This stage will pass through

The last stage of the raid can’t be underestimated. We leave definitively the bicycles to face the last kilometres of the adventure with a trekking towards Santiago de Compostela, where the teams will enter as if they were pilgrims.

The pilgrims who come to Santiago, don’t finish their adventure here on many occasions, but follow their way to Fisterra passing by Negreira. The teams will complete the same distance but backwards(though some checkpoints will make the way longer), visiting in some places of enormous beauty as Ponte Maceira, where they will cross the river Tambre, a few kilometers away from Negreira.

Foot orienteering in Mount Pedroso

The last challenge the teams will find before their arrival to the finishing line will be the accomplishment of a foot orienteering in Mount Pedroso. This one is one of the highest points which surround the city of Santiago, with 461 m. It is located in an environment with hillsides covered with conifer forest. It offers a great panoramic view of the city.

Once this section is finished, the teams will finally head to the awaited finishing line,  an triumphal walk along  the last steps of the Camino de Santiago, to come up right to Obradoiro’s Square just in front of the main façade of the Cathedral.

It’s difficult to imagine a better end for this adventure: Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia, a place where millions of people from the whole world go every year, many after crossing the Camino de Santiago. The Historical Center has been declared Heritage of the Humanity by the UNESCO and we find within the Cathedral and the Pórtico de la Gloria, emblematic squares as the Obradoiro, the Quintana and O Toural, dozens of churches, convents and palaces of romanesque, gothic and baroque styles. Also shops, bars and restaurants where those who still feel strong can continue enjoying ;-
