MAPS

Dear participants

In the attached file you can see an example of the maps that will be used in the Bimbache ARWS Morocco Raid 2025 with the following characteristics:

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAPS

Set of 20 maps in A3+ and A4 sizes on shatterproof and water-resistant paper.

The maps will be mainly topographical at a scale of 1:50000 with 10 m equidistance between contour lines.

There will be other scales (1:25000, 1:15000) in specific sections that require more detail, although the symbology is the same as in the general maps.

Orthophoto maps will be available in specific areas, such as towns and reservoirs, to provide more realistic and up-to-date details of terrain features not shown on 1:50,000 scale maps.

More than 84 maps have been digitally stitched together to create the complete Bimbache Raid route. Some of the stitching may not be perfect, but that shouldn't be a problem for your race layout.

 MAP WORK

The original maps of the race area, and of Morocco in general, are not very accurate, so:

Extensive field work totaling over 1,400 hours has been carried out.

More than 550 hours of digital work has been done on the maps, consulting and combining data from six world map databases (Garmin, Gaia GPS, Open Street Maps, Google Maps, Global ESRI, and Maps Box).

All new elements have been updated, erased, and accurately painted over on the base maps (houses, roads, paths, trails, water features, cliffs, etc.). You may not be able to distinguish between the original map elements and the newly painted elements. We have attempted to paint the new elements onto the map as accurately as possible; however, some may be slightly offset to fit the race map.

You can be sure that the elements on your map exist in reality. This doesn't mean that all the elements that actually exist are drawn. You will find elements in the field that aren't drawn on the map.

Contour lines accurately reflect the terrain in mid- and high-mountain areas. However, in flat, desert areas, they should be taken with some caution.

In canyons, cliffs, or narrow rivers, the two or three contour lines very close to the rivers aren't very accurate. You'll see something off between the contour lines and the river's path. This means the river is narrow. Don't trust those contour lines, but trust the river's path. The river is correct. You can trust the river's path and shape.

RACE PLOTS

Race maps will be given in several packs throughout the race.

There are prohibited areas marked in red. No entry.

There are sections of road marked in red. Entry is prohibited.

There are mandatory sections of the race marked with a purple dotted line. You must use this line if your route includes one.

PCs are marked in purple.
